About Us

Founded by husband and wife team Angela Finney-Hoffman and Barkley Hoffman, POST 27 opened it’s doors in the spring of 2008. Striving to provide a source for great interiors by inspiring people to mix and match items of different styles and eras to create personal and one of a kind environments. Ours is an ever-changing and creatively displayed space filled with vignettes of products that range from mid-century furniture pieces to accessories made locally from reclaimed or re-purposed materials. Many of the vintage furnishings receive a “new life” through reupholstery, refinishing, or modification.
A little history on Angela and Barkley:
Angela was raised in the foothills of the Appalachain mountains and enjoyed shopping at flea markets and antique shops before she realized that she would grow up to be a furniture designer – an absolute love and obsession of creating comforting and personal spaces quickly became an important part of her life. (By the time she was 8 her room was filled with custom made cardboard furnishings) Leaving the country behind, she attended VCU to study furniture design and started ground up by building furniture by hand, then moved on to the power tools, and latter realized that her time was best spent creating and collaborating. Prior to opening POST 27, she designed furniture and lighting for Holly Hunt. All things loved (inspiring others, supporting local art and talent, collecting well designed furniture and objects and bringing all of them together in an unexpected way) came together to create a dream come true – POST 27.
Barkley was raised in Geneva Illinois, and has since lived here and there, but has always found his way back to Chicago. He spent the early 90’s at UIC where he earned a BA. He enjoys the constant search and discovery aspect of the business as well as presenting this collection to the POST 27 clientele. He has held many diverse occupations, but finds this current position at the store is the most rewarding yet. The anticipation of what POST 27 could become in the future is very exciting to him. He finds friendship to be the most valuable thing on Earth.
